 Archery '09

Hi all. I took some time today and stopped by the range. 98% of the snow is gone, but it's still quite wet... muddy in fact. It'll probably be a couple weeks before we can get out there without making a huge mess.

We're good to go!! I was at the range earlier today and it's dry and ready to use. So... unless there is a different suggestion, I'm going to stick with 2:00pm on Sundays for practice, starting tomorrow, June 7.

Just a reminder... archery is open to EVERYONE. Even if you just want to come out and socialize. There is loaner gear available if you don't have your own, and an instructor, (markus), on site. Also... did you know that you get a medallion just for entering 3 scores? So come on out and have some fun!

As was the case last year, I'm asking for donations when you shoot, any amount. It helps to pay for equipment repairs and replacement. Hope to see everyone out there

Well... given that I slept through today, I'll have to try for next week! :)

Just to let everyone know, Siban and I will not be at practice on Sunday. We're heading out to the Fields of Gold site a bit early to help with site prep.

I will not be making it to practice today. Too much mundane work to get finished. Sorry

I will not be attending practice today, (Aug 23), due to a sore back. Sorry.

Okay people. This is great. Today we had 8, count 'em EIGHT, archers at practice today. With today's rounds entered, we now have a total of 5 archers with official averages. There are two others with two scores entered, and two more with one score entered. The end of the Royal Round season is the end of October. Taking into account the Autumn Celebration, where we may or may not have royal rounds, there are only SIX MORE PRACTICES to get your scores in. That is if the weather permits. There could be less due to cold or rain. Come out and shoot. You need 3 royal rounds to get an average. Once you have an average, you get a rank. With this rank comes a cool medallion for you to show off. There is loaner gear and instruction available. Practices are on Sunday's at 2:00pm at HE Tatiana's house.

My lords and ladies. I regret to say we are done. With the onset of cold weather and the distinct possibility of snow, I personally have no desire to go shoot and shiver.

First off, I'd like to personally thank each and every archer that came out to shoot this summer. I sent in Royal Round scores for 12 different archers. 8 of those archers have official averages, meaning they came out and shot at least 3 royal rounds. (Finn and Phil, I have your medallions. Contact me off list about getting them to you).

Once again, a HUGE thank you goes out to Rick and Tatiana, (they were thanked during court at Autumn Celebration), for allowing us to trespass and fling pointy sticks in their yard.

The end of October is the official end of the Royal Round season. Once the scores have been finalized, I'll post a link to the site so you can see how you measured up with the rest of Avacal.

Once again, thank you all for coming out. For those of you that I taught and coached this summer, I'm thrilled and proud of the progress that you have made in our short archery season.

A huge thanks to Markus for teaching/mentoring us.

Although my scores did not reflect it, I made a lot of progress this year through his support and feedback and I know I am not the only one to feel this way.

My lords and ladies. As of this morning, the final scores have been updated and posted on the Avacal website. You can go and see how you did against the rest of the Principality here:

http://www.avacal-sca.org/officer/archer_files/target_archery_scores.htm

Congratulations to everyone who entered their 3 royal rounds and achieved and average this year, and to those that increased their average over last year. Thank you all again for coming out, and we'll see you on the range again next year.
